AW16 bras at Selfridges’ Body Studio
After visiting the Fit Studio at Selfridges’ Body Studio when it first opened in April, I was already pondering a return visit. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I received an email asking if I’d like to book another bra fit appointment to check out the AW16 stock they’d just received. The message promised a free goodie bag (which turned out to be pretty good, see photo) but, to be honest, I was sold on the premise of “come and try on more pretty bras”. I booked an appointment via email for the evening of 1st August and headed to the store after work.
My fitter for this appointment was the very lovely Morgan, and I explained to her that I’d had a fitting recently but was coming along to take advantage of the invitation to try on AW16 stock. She checked out the fit of the bra I was wearing on the day (my beloved Panache Idina) and agreed that 32F was still a good fit on me in that brand, before going off onto the shop floor to gather lots of lovely styles for me to try on. I tried on lots, but snapped photos of my four favourites that I wanted to share with you here. However, in keeping with my Buy-Nothing Challenge for August, I resisted the temptation to buy any of them on the spot.
The first bra I photographed from Morgan’s selection was the Panache Black ‘Ardour’ Limited Edition in burnt red with a Swarovski crystal centre piece, which is an exclusive style for Selfridges. It’s a moulded style, which I’m sort of falling out of love with at the moment, but super-soft t-shirt bras are hard to come by, and good red ones even harder! This has definitely made it to my wish list, and I really love that you can feel the added quality of the Panache Black range. Next was the Fantasie ‘Mae’ in black with a gorgeous flocked pattern which feels so luxurious! I’d always thought that Fantasie bras were a little bit matronly looking (on me, anyway), but this bra definitely has the retro glamour thing going on.
Another Fantasie style that made me realise that the brand is definitely more fashionable than I previously gave them credit for was the sheer ‘Allegra’ bra which I tried on in purple. The embroidery on this style is stunning, and the fit was spot on for me. The final bra I tried on was the gorgeous lace Panache ‘Clara’ in the heather colourway. I might have overlooked this one on the hanger, because the subtle colours were somewhat underwhelming, but when I put it on they just suited my skin tone perfectly! Also, this is an extremely soft and comfortable bra.
If you’re after a bra fitting, or are in need of some new styles to make you look and feel wonderful, I’d highly recommend Selfridges. There’s no pressure to buy and the fitters are excellent, making you feel really relaxed and comfortable, plus it’s a world away from stores where I’ve been attacked with both a tape measure and a disapproving look. I’m definitely going to pop back in September and try these beauties on again, with the matching briefs.
