2016: A Knockout Year for Underwear?

Nicola Adams for Panache Sport. Photographed by Martin BrentWe’re only a couple of months in to 2016, but it’s already proving to be quite an exciting year in the world of underwear. Obviously, this is of particular interest to an undie-obsessive like me, but there is much to hint at this being a more engaging year than most. A handful of the many things that have caught my eye in the news and on blogs already are:

But the best is yet to come. Not only does April see the opening of the V&A’s exhibition Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear – hopefully with an exciting accompanying events schedule! – but it’s also the month when Selfridges launch a complete overhaul for their lingerie and swimwear department, called The Body Studio. Looks like this year will be the one where the general public in the UK will finally get a chance to start viewing underwear as more than ‘unmentionables’.
