Changes are afoot at Rarely Wears Lipstick

The winners of the Sexual Freedom Awards were announced last night – including the wonderful Summer House WeekendMistress Tytania and Pandora Blake – which got me thinking back to when I was nominated in the Writer category of its previous incarnation, the Erotic Awards. A lot has changed in my life since then, and I’ve slowly been realising that this blog needs to change to reflect that.

Back in 2012, I wrote about how I became a sex and relationships columnist for BitchBuzz and was looking to include more writing on that topic here on Rarely Wears Lipstick. I spoke at sex writers conference Eroticon for two years in a row – in 2012 as part of a panel discussion on identity, ethics and sex blogging, then in 2013 co-hosting an information session on polyamory with Amanda for writers (see image below) – I wrote lots of sex toy reviews, and also created a couple of very successful A-to-Z blog series.

246588_353795931392105_15419223_nThree years later and the focus of my life and writing has completely changed. When I stopped getting inspiration for my own posts on sex and relationships, I got some fantastic sex columnists to fill that gap on Rarely Wears Lipstick, but slowly that section became the one that was least updated so now I’m officially going to retire it.

Most of my posts are fashion-related these days, so I decided that it’s probably time I refocussed my on that topic and made this site look more like a blog again, rather than a magazine. I’ll slowly change the layout over the next few months – removing the sex/relationships category from the menu and homepage, before finding a new template – and the smut will gradually disappear into the archives. Mind you, Google will still know it’s there so I don’t think I’ll ever escape my sex blogger past… not that I’d really want to. This is simply the start of a new chapter in my blogging story.
